ABOUT ME
My name is Dan, I'm a Senior Mechanical Engineering major at the University at Buffalo. Although engineering is a major part of my life, it does not define who I am. I consider myself a "creative thinker", and thrive in the space where technology meets creativity. For me, this is the only area where i feel alive and can truly take pride in my work.
My goal is not to simply secure a job, but allow myself to work passionately on projects that test my limitations as I grow. My dream job is a place where I am learning every day and surrounded by passionate, like-minded individuals from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines.
When I recently discovered my passion for product design and making great things, I instantly fell in love with the entire design culture and community. This attitude of limitless boundaries and failing to succeed resonated with me on a personal level. I am now trying to promote this culture on my campus through the UB Design Club, in which I am an e-board member. The goal is to create a space for anyone and everyone to come together with ideas and an eagerness to work and grow. We educate the members on the design process, and provide support in helping projects grow.
Outside of campus, I have many hobbies that add to my character and allow me to live passionately. Whether it be reading a thought provoking novel, watching a TED video or playing tennis, I am continuously growing and experiencing. I have come to adopt a "design lens", by which I mean I am perpetually analyzing everyday objects in terms of its design, from form to function. I also love quotes, so here are a couple of my favorites:
